A dhamakedaar debut

The upcoming film Madras Café as we know, stars John Abraham and Nargis Fakhri. However, this Shoojit Sircar directed flick will also see a host of debutants making their presence felt. Among them is model-turned-actress Rashi Khanna who plays John’s wife in the film, while John plays intelligence agent Captain Vikram Singh.

“I play Vikram Singh’s wife in the film. He is an army officer and often has to travel, leaving his wife behind. She is lonely most of the time as well as afraid about her husband’s safety and hoping for his return,” says Rashi.
Working and debuting with a highly established Bollywood actor is an honour, she admits, and when asked about the experience of working with the team, she says, “John is really cool and Shoojit is also very nice. Both of them really pampered me on the sets of Madras Café. I was really jolly and always jumping around on the sets!”
Seems like this new girl is also John’s new protégé according to rumours that say Rashi has been signed on for two other films by him. If the reports are true, then newcomer Rashi certainly doesn’t need to worry about her Bollywood career under John’s supervision.
Apart from Rashi, there are two other new faces: Kaun Banega Crorepati producer Siddharth Basu and advertising guru Piyush Pandey. Piyush felt “special” on being offered the role, and says his “look” probably had a lot to do with it. “Shoojit had a vision about his characters and I guess he thought I fit the role,” Piyush said.
Madras Café releases on August 23.

I want to begin with a little story that was told to me by a leading executive at Aptech. He was exercising in a gym with a lot of younger people.

Shekhar Kapur’s Bandit Queen didn’t make the cut. Neither did Shaji Karun’s Piravi, which bagged 31 international awards.
