Dear Friend Hitler maker to be replaced
Just a week after Anupam Kher opted out of the film Dear Friend Hitler, following international and national opposition to him portraying the role of the German Nazi leader Adolf Hitler, the producers are now planning to bring a new director on board.
A source told this newspaper that the producers are planning to rope in director Ashwini Choudhary to replace the now-director Rakesh Ranjan Kumar, as he has failed to deliver as per the producer’s expectations.
“Kumar failed to clarify the controversy surrounding Hitler’s role in India’s independence, as portrayed in the film,” the source said.
The source says that there is no conflict on the creative side, but his rejection to clarify his stand led producers to seek alternatives. “He seems to have taken a vow of silence, which is affecting the image of the film in the public,” the source said.
Producer Anil K. Sharma also hinted at some changes in the team handling the film. “The team will be the same, except for a few changes,” he said. “We have received some offers, but it has been mostly from actors wanting to play the role of Hitler. We are yet to take a final decision though,” he said.
Kumar on the other hand, denied any such developments and rejected any conflicts between him and the producers.
