Controversy not welcome
The leggy Padukone girl has been in the news for all the right reasons of late. With two major films coming up for release — in the form of Desi Boyz and Race 2 — Deepika is certainly looking forward to a great phase in her career. The icing on the cake is an achievement award by a Mumbai institute that the actress has been named for.
However, controversies do seem to have a way of following Ms Padukone, the latest being the rumours of a catfight between Dippy and her co-star Chitrangda Singh (on the sets of Desi Boyz, over a costume they both had their eyes on). Both Dippy and Chitra of course, have gone to town, stating that the rumours were so-not-true. Dippy, on her part, admits that while she may have once found them annoying, controversies no longer have the power to disturb her.
“I don’t take them (controversies) seriously any more,” Deepika says with a shrug of her toned shoulders. “My alleged fight with Chitra was a figment of someone’s imagination. Why would I fight with my co-star over a silly thing like a dress?”
Dippy’s attitude towards controversies and rumours has changed because of the secure niche she’s carved for herself in the industry, she says, adding, “I’ve a lot a confidence in myself.” That may be, but one thing still has the power to maker her squirm — references to former flame Ranbir Kapoor. Quiz her about her alleged patch-up with the Kapoor scion, and she looks visibly uncomfortable. Well, we’re sure given time, that should change.
