Audience loves masala madness
With Desi Boyz being your only release in 2011, one would have thought that this would be a fairly relaxed year for you. But then you are also shooting for three films back-to-back — Joker, Housefull 2 and Rowdy Rathore. Busy days ahead?
Yes, but this is a well deserved seven-month-breather for me between Thank You and Desi Boyz. But this year has been busy too. Besides shooting for these three films I also finished dubbing for Transformers, which was followed by Fear Factor. Now I’m in the process of finalising scripts for the sequel of Once Upon A Time In Mumbaai. But I am not tired. In fact, you can tell from my expression, that I am very excited.
Seems like you are playing across diverse genres in your forthcoming films. Is that a conscious call?
My choice of films depends on the trends of the industry. Right now, I feel Desi Boyz is the perfect film for me. There is love and laughter, and audiences will again get to see me and John after Garam Masala. The great thing about this year is that is I am getting back to action. I am thrilled that finally I have a script where I can punch my way through.
What’s your take on the comeback of masala films?
I believe our audience will always crave for the masala madness. The box-office returns of these films are incomparable.
