Ajay takes his look seriously
Barely had the news over Ajay Devgn’s Golmaal 3 look come out, that we now have the dope on his change of style for the Milan Luthria film Once Upon A Time in Mumbaai (OUATIM). Ajay, who essays the role of one-time don Haji Mastan in the film, sports only white clothes and a handlebar moustache.
Aalim Hakim who put together Ajay’s look for both Golamaal 3 and OUATIM says, “Ajay loves to experiment. While he has a grungy look in Golmaal 3, with tattoos and diamond studs in his ears, in OUATIM he sports the retro look of the 70s and 80s. He will even sport a handlebar moustache. The look in those days was heavy, and not textured. The hairstyles were bulkier, covering half the ears, and were more rounded as well. We watched a lot of Amitabh Bachchan and Vinod Khanna movies for the look,” he says.
Incidentally, Aalim’s father has styled the leading stars from the real 70s and 80s. Says Aalim, “My father used to style Amitabh Bachchan and Vinod Khanna’s hair during those days. I used to go with him to the studios and observe him. My observations certainly came in handy now!”
