‘Actors should have a plan B’
Riding high on the accolades for his new look in Prakash Jha’s Chakravyuh, Arjun Rampal is in a confident and positive phase now. And it’s not just on the acting front where things are looking up for him — his latest business venture, Lap, a plush restaurant in Delhi, seems to be doing pretty well too.
On being quizzed about how hard it is to manage two professions at the same time, Arjun says, “It’s certainly not easy. My prime concern was to have a good, trustworthy team to handle my business because my films keep me away from the city most of the time.”
The actor says that he launched the restaurant to feel more secure. “Our profession is very uncertain. I always feel that actors should have something to fall back on — a plan B.” So is he hinting that it’s the insecurity factor that’s driving many actors towards independent business ventures? “More than insecurity, it is all about smart business sense. It’s a wise investment that assures you growth and stability,” Arjun says.
This is not the first time Arjun has tried anything besides acting. “Most actors such as Ajay Devgn, SRK, Saif Ali Khan and Akshay Kumar have their own production companies. I too tried my hand at production but eventually settled for the restaurant business,” he says.
