Aamir missed for Stanley Ka Dabba?
Many industry insiders feel that Stanley Ka Dabba is Amole Gupte’s way of showing the world that he can pull off a children’s flick without the Aamir Khan-factor involved, after the latter snatched away his brainchild Taare Zameen Par. While Amol is vehemently denying all such views, fact of the matter remains that SKD hasn’t even generated a quarter of the buzz that TZP had before it went on to become a blockbuster.
“That’s where Aamir’s marketing power made a huge impact during TZP. The promos were running in the theatres for over three months and Aamir even tied up with a multiplex to ensure a good placement. So besides the strength of the film, it was also the innovative marketing campaign coupled with Aamir’s brand name that did the trick,” says a trade insider.
This is the ground where SKD has struggled because despite the film releasing this Friday, there seems to be hardly any buzz around it. Industry insiders like Karan Johar, Vidhu Vinod Chopra, Vishal Bharadwaj and Shahid Kapoor, who have already seen the film, have loved it. But looks like Amol will have to count only on good reviews across all corners to get his film going.
