Will Gowda’s smile win it for BJP?
Will the ever-smiling Chief Minister D V Sadananda Gowda charm his way into the hearts of voters in his home-turf of Udupi-Chikmagalur? On Tuesday, Mr. Sadananda Gowda addressed meetings in Tarikere and Chikmagalur Assembly segments, striking the right chord with voters in most towns and villages. He spoke of developmental projects launched by the BJP government, in particular the previous dispensation headed by Lingayat strongman B.S. Yeddyurappa. He also praised the contribution of local legislators in uplift of Assembly constituencies.
“Mr Gowda is known for his and gentle approach and courteous attitude. He is a sensible speaker and knows how to gauge the mood of people,” remarked Jayanna, a local resident. The Chief Minister told voters, “Because of the blessings of Udupi-Chikmagalur, I became a MP. Because of your blessings, I became CM. I will fulfill your expectations,” thus taking a swipe at his predecessor BSY for claiming he was responsible for making him CM.
