Venky wife on sticky wicket
As mobile phones clicked pictures which were then played out on phones and electronic media, the face-off between former Indian pacer Venkatesh Prasad’s wife Jayanthi and senior police officers on duty in the parking area of the Chinnaswamy stadium after the IPL match between Deccan Chargers and Royal Challengers Bangalore on Sunday could be seen as turning loud and ugly.
Ms Prasad, standing near a car in the VIP parking lot of Gate No 1 in the players’ zone was refusing to heed the policemen’s requests that she leave the area as it had to be secured before the players exited the stadium and boarded the bus parked there. Krishne Gowda, assistant sub-inspector (ASI) attached to the Cubbon Park police station asked Ms Prasad to leave the area. Ms Prasad began arguing with the ASI and asked if he was aware of her identity. This is when the deputy commissioner of police (Central) Mr Ravikanthe Gowda intervened and also urged her to leave.
Ms Prasad allegedly kept on arguing, until her lady friend called Mr Venkatesh Prasad, who came rushing out and police say, allegedly abused the officers. However, instead of sorting the matter out, the former India player took his wife and two others, inside the players’ zone, thus breaching security again.
