Three masked men rob jewellery store
Three robbers barged into a Chemmanur Jewellers shop in Rajajinagar on Friday evening, attacked the security with an iron rod and beat up the cashier before running away with gold chains, whose value is yet to be ascertained.
Three unidentified men wearing face masks came near the jewellery shop at first block, 8th main of Rajajinagar around 6.45 pm. While one was on the lookout, the other two entered the shop.
One of them hit the security guard with an iron rod in the leg and then the two entered the shop. While one sprayed pepper spray in the air, another went in and attacked the cashier.
The police claimed that the gang took three gold chains from the store. “We are still trying to ascertain the value of the jewellery robbed. It could be around Rs 3 lakh,” said H.S. Revanna, DCP (North).
In December 2011, a similar robbery was committed at another Chemmanur Jewellers store in Jalahalli.
Then, too, the robbers had entered the bank wearing helmets and jackets. They had attacked the lone security guard and the cashier before making away with gold jewellery.
An eyewitness, who informed the police, said, “I came out of the house hearing the screams. I saw three people in masks jumping on a motorbike and getting away. We could not do anything. We called the police and alerted them."
Three police teams have been formed to track the robbers. “We expect to catch them soon,” said DCP Revanna. A case has been registered with the Subramanyanagar police station.
