Suspicion over affair leads to murder

A fruit merchant butchered his neighbour to death suspecting him of an illicit relationship with his wife in Narayanapura on Monday morning. The 32-year-old fruit merchant, Anwar, attacked Babu alias STD Babu alias Inayath (42) with a butcher’s knife and killed him. Inayath was a resident of Narayanapura and owner of a petty shop. The police said Inayath was at Anwar’s house when the attack took place. Anwar suspected that Inayath was having an illicit relationship with his wife Adir Begum.

On Monday morning when Inayath had gone to his residence on Naraynapura Main road, Anwar picked up a quarrel and attacked him. Inayath sustained severe injuries and died on the spot. Anwar’s mother Mamtaz and his wife Adir, who tried to stop him, also sustained injuries. A few neighbours who witnessed the brutal murder alerted the police who rushed to the spot and recovered the body. Anwar too sustained injuries in the fight and has been admitted to the hospital, so are his mother and wife.
