Stadium blast chargesheet names IM
The city police filed a chargesheet in connection with the M. Chinnaswamy Stadium twin blasts case before the 1st Additional Chief Metropolitan Magistrate (ACMM) court. Investigating Officer Nyame Gowda filed the chargesheet naming Indian Mujahideen (IM), the terror outfit for executing the blasts, besides 14 other terror suspects.
“The chargesheet was filed in the court on July 16. The Cubbon Park police had registered five separate cases in this connection. Of them, the chargesheet has been filed in just one case. Names of the 14 accused, who are suspected IM operatives, has been mentioned in the chargesheet. The chargesheets in the four remaining cases is being prepared and will be filed soon”, said a senior police officer.
The chargesheet runs over 3,000 pages and includes about 232 supporting documents including FSL reports, medical reports and statements of 122 witnesses, including those who were injured in the blasts. The chargesheet also details about the planning and the execution of the blasts and financial support received by the suspects from Pakistan and other Gulf nations. The investigating teams had visited various places including Delhi, Mumbai, Pune, Hyderabad, Kerala, Bihar, Tumkur and others places, the officer said.
Police have arrested seven people including Kamal Hasan, Gayur Ahmed and Gauhar Aziz, while seven others are still at large. Police are on the lookout for the prime suspects Riyaz and Yasin Bhatkal. Riyaz Bhatkal is believed to be hiding in Pakistan, while others are suspected to be holed up in in Saudi Arabia and a red corner notice has been issued against them.
A total of seven terrorists were involved in the blasts. Yaseen Ahmed (36) of Bhatkal, Mohammed Qateel Siddiqui (27) of Darbangha district in Bihar, Gayur Ahmed Jamali (21) of Madhubani in Bihar and Farooq (33) from Darbangha, carried out the explosions. They were assisted by Mousin Chowdary, Iqbal Bhatkal and Riyaz Bhatkal. Qateel and Jamali were arrested on November 30 while Farooq was picked up on December 6. It was Yaseen and Qateel, who actually planted the crude bombs. Of the seven arrested, Mohammed Qateel Siddiqui was murdered in a Pune prison in June.
