Sree: ACB hasn’t summoned me
BSR Congress president B. Sreeramulu on Thursday refuted reports that he was summoned by officers of Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB), Andhra Pradesh, in connection with the “cash for bail” scam. Local police officers, however, confirmed that personnel of ACB handed over the notice at Mr Sreeramulu’s residence in Avvambhavi area when the former minister was away. He has been asked to appear before the authorities of ACB within three days.
At an impromptu press conference held in his party office here, Mr Sreeramulu said “till this moment, I have not received any notice nor have been contacted by ACB police in connection with the bail case,” adding that he would cooperate with the investigating officer in case the authorities concerned serve a notice on him. He said he would shortly visit Bellary City legislator Gali Somashekhar Reddy and his nephew and Kampli legislator T.H. Suresh Babu in Cherlapally jail in Hyderabad, both arrested for involvement in “cash for bail” scam. “I am deeply pained by the arrests of my friend Janardhan Reddy, Srinivas Reddy (Managing Director of OMC), Somashekhar Reddy and Suresh Babu, but it does not mean that my confidence has received a serious jolt. We will fight it out through a legal battle and prove their innocence soon,” he added.
The ACB has so far named 11 people as accused in two separate first information reports (FIRs) in the “cash for bail” scam, including three suspended judges, a retired judge, a rowdy sheeter, a realtor and an advocate.
