Shootout at HSR
An old family dispute over property turned ugly, when an inebriated real estate agent allegedly shot at his cousin in HSR Layout on Tuesday evening. Narayan Reddy and his friend Matma alias Mutton Reddy were injured when Manjunatha Reddy opened fire from his licensed double-barrel gun.
The police said that around 6.30 pm on Tuesday, Narayan and Matma, who too are realtors, arrived at the disputed site on 3rd cross, Sector II of HSR Layout. Manjunatha, who got the information, arrived at the spot with his father Anantha Rama Reddy. Both parties started an argument and, in the heat of the moment, Manjunath, who was under the influence of alcohol, took out his double-barrel gun from the car and shot at the two. Matma suffered an injury when a pellet scarped past his right leg. Narayana received a serious injury when Manjunatha slammed the butt of the gun into his head.
DCP (Southeast) P.S. Harsha said, “We have registered an attempt to murder case against Manjunatha and his father. They are absconding and we are on the lookout.” The police said Manjunatha and Narayan own large areas of land in various parts of the city. The dispute over the HSR Layout property has been going on for long. “On Tuesday evening too, the argument was over this piece of land. Matma and Narayan have been admitted to Bhagavathi Hospital and are out of danger,” Mr Harsha added. The families had earlier tried to seek police intervention in the case, but the police had told them to approach the court.
