Senior BJP MLA too in land scam
Joining the long list of BJP ministers and legislators, who are entangled in various land scams, four-time BJP MLA from Chamaraja constituency in Mysore H.S. Shankarlinge Gowda has been accused of obtaining a Bangalore Development Authority (BDA) site flouting norms. According to documents released by Mr H. Kumar, a social activist, the senior BJP MLA allegedly got a 50x80 site allotted from BDA on July 15, 2003, when Mr S.M. Krishna was Chief Minister, by providing false details and fake proof of a Bengaluru address.
The documents show that the Chamaraja MLA was living at his brother-in-law B.C. Nagesh’s house in Keshav Krupa, HVR Layout on Magadi Road , Bengaluru, paying Rs 2,000 as rent along with wife Nagalakshmi. The site application was filed with BDA on July 7, 1999. However, Mr Gowda already owns a 40x60 site in Mysore allotted by Mysore Urban Development Authority (MUDA) in 1976. Besides, the MLA who took possession of the BDA site paying Rs 8,62,539 on September 3, 2003, sold the site for a whopping Rs 16 lakh within 15 days, but the revenue was not shown in the affidavit submitted to the Election Commission on March 30, 2004 during the assembly elections, the complainant alleged.
