Schoolgirl found burnt alive at home
Fate dealt a cruel blow to a Class 7 student, Keerthana (12), who chose to skip school, which reopened on Tuesday after the Dasara vacations, as Tuesdays are considered inauspicious. She stayed back at home, only to be found burnt alive by neighbours.
Keerthana’s father Putte Gowda, an electrician, and mother Sunanda, a garment factory worker, had gone to work on Tuesday and Keerthana was alone at their home in K.S. Layout 1st Stage.
Somewhere between 9.30 am and 9.45 am, neighbours found smoke emanating from Keerthana’s house and rushed there, only to find her dead with severe burns. The K.S. Layout police are yet to establish the cause of death.
An electrician, who inspected the scene, has found the electric connection in the house intact. Police also found no signs of a gas leak in the house, but traced kerosene on the victim’s head and suspect that she may have either committed suicide or there could be some foul play in her death.
