SC breather fires BSY ambition
Within hours of the Supreme Court refusing to cancel the anticipatory bail granted to former chief minister B.S. Yeddyurappa in a case of corruption, the leader on Monday moved the Karnataka High Court for permission to set out of the city to meet his political commitments.
Sources close to the former chief minister said he was relieved that the apex court rejected an application by the CBI to revoke the anticipatory bail granted to him and his kin by the high court on June 21. He plans to tour the state, particularly drought-hit areas, in a vehicle rejigged by automobile design expert Dilip Chhabria from the third week of August onwards.
During the tour, he plans to mobilize public opinion in his favour, and subsequently mount pressure on senior central leaders of BJP to allow him to lead the campaign in next year's elections to the Legislative Assembly.
