Police crack JP Nagar double murder, nab three
In a major breakthrough, the J.P. Nagar police claim to have solved the sensational double murder of an aged couple, that had raised serious concerns about the security of senior citizens in the city, with the arrest of three people. Police said the arrested are one Guru Prasad and two others, whose names were not revealed, from Kadirenahalli area near Banashankari. The accused had kept a watch over the elderly couple for some time and hatched a plot to kill them.
According to sources, Guru Prasad was picked up from a neighboring district. The elderly couple, Venkateshaiah (74) and his wife V. Swarnamba (68), residents of J.P. Nagar 1st Phase, was found murdered after their domestic help who came to work on Friday morning noticed some foul smell and informed Swarnamba’s sister and neighbours. The couple was found dead in their bedroom.
DCP-South Sonia Narang, while stating that they had achieved a major breakthrough, however, refused to divulge more information. “There is a lot of development in the case and we will make an official announcement on Monday at a press conference,” she said. According to preliminary investigation, the murder had taken place on August 6. One of the accused had gone to the house a few days ago to take up cleaning up of the sump and had got to know about the elderly couple living there. He was introduced to the couple by a neighbour. The accused had taken away some gold and other valuables from the house.
The murder was for gain and the arrested seemed to have been acquainted with the two domestic helps who worked for the couple. The murder was a well-hatched and well-executed plan, police sources pointed out.
