Officers favoured builders: TVCC
In yet another scam, the Technical Vigilance Cell under the commissioner, TVCC, has found out that additional Transferable Development Rights (TDR) to the extent of 30,000 sq. feet were prepared by officials of Mahadevapura and Yelahanka zones to favour builders and vested interests.
The TVCC chief engineer N. Devaraj said he has submitted a report to the BBMP commissioner and said that the officials concerned had prepared a report and recommended issue of Development Rights Certificate (DRC) to vested interests.
Mr Devaraj also mentioned in the report that the TDR was issued for BBMP properties like roads and drains which amounted to a criminal offence. The width of the road was not properly validated in a bid to favour the vested interests, he said.
When it came to validating buildings for TDR, the depreciation was not calculated and the value of the buildings were higher than the expected level, the report stated. It was prepared after going through three files from Mahadevapura and Yelahanka zone and a total of 30 properties.
On Friday, Mr Devaraj submitted video footage to BBMP commissioner M.K. Shankarlinge Gowda which shows a gang of six people barging into the office at 4.10 pm on May 21. The six men allegedly threatening Mr Devaraj and his staff while demanding a favourable report with regard to TDR.
Mr Devaraj claimed that the gang threatened to torch the TVCC office if an adverse report was given affecting their interests. He has recommended for a BMTF probe but has not lodged a police complaint.
