Newspaper publisher kills self
A 50-year-old man, who owned a Kannada fortnightly newspaper, was found dead on the railway tracks at the City Railway Station on Monday morning.
The deceased, D.H. Rajashekhar, a resident of Maruthi Layout, Basaveshwaranagar, was running the newspaper ‘Hombisilu’. Around 6 am on Monday, a few passengers on Platform No. 5 noticed the mangled body and alerted the police.
A suicide note found on his person read: “I am the owner of a Kannada fortnightly paper. I am disappointed with life that is why I am taking this step.”
The city railway police after conducting the postmortem handed over the body to the family.
Mr Rajashekhar, who hailed from Davangere, was married to Prema for over ten years. The couple has no children.
But the police suspect that he might have had an extra-marital affair. The Railway Police have filed a case and are investigating.
