New Cabinet? Not so fast
Chief Minister D.V. Sadananda Gowda has put on hold his plans to expand the Cabinet in view of a tepid response from party president Nitin Gadkari. Sources close to the Chief Minister told Deccan Chronicle that the leader and state unit chief K.S. Eshwarappa were unsuccessful in securing a go-ahead from Mr Gadkari for expansion of the eight-month-old ministry.
Mr Sadananda Gowda explained his predicament of being weighed down by several portfolios, but was told to wait for sometime, perhaps in anticipation of the probe underway by the Supreme Court-appointed Central Empowered Committee (CEC) into illegal mining. Mr Gadkari, who was leaving for Nagpur, assured the Chief Minister that all issues would soon be discussed in detail, the sources added. Meanwhile, Mr Eshwarappa who rushed to Delhi for discussions on the issue of expansion of the ministry, returned without meeting senior leaders of the party.
