Missing 12-yr-old fell into drain?
A 12-year-old boy, who reportedly fell into an open drain near BWSSB filter station at Sanjaynagar in Marathanahalli, has remained untraced since. Police said the boy Yashvantachari, on Saturday evening had gone out to play with his friends, but did not return home. The worried parents then lodged a missing complaint with the HAL police. However, neither the parents nor the police were aware that the boy had fallen into the drain. On Monday, the boy’s parents met his friends, who then revealed that he had fallen into the drain and they got scared and so did not tell anyone about it.
The parents then started a search along the drain and, on Monday evening, the Fire and Emergency services joined in, but due to bad weather, the search was called off. The water flow was heavy on Saturday, when the boy reportedly fell into it. The drain water flows towards Varthur Lake and the rescue officials are expected to carry out search operations even there. The HAL police have, at present, filed a missing person’s case. The boy’s parents Ramacharya and Ratna have alleged that the police should have started the search operation earlier.
