Kidnappers free elderly couple as cops close in
Two elderly citizens, who were kidnapped, were left off on Monday night by their captors, who feared that the police were closing in on them. Mr Ugranarashima (65) and his wife Anasuya (60) were kidnapped by a gang of four around 3 pm on Monday when they were on their way to Allasandra where Mr Ugranarashima had sold a huge piece of land recently.
The couple was intercepted by a gang four on a bike who threatened the car driver and knifepoint and forced him to drive towards Kunigal. At Kunigal Circle, the driver thrown out of the car and told to get the ransom, police said.Mr Ugranarashima, a former gram panchayat president, asked the driver Hanumanth Raju to get `50 lakh from his realtor friend Dayashankar. The driver later contacted the realtor and they then reported the matter to police.
Police then started tracking the mobile that was being used by the captors. “Sensing that the police are closing in, the kidnappers dropped off the two near a dhaba in Kunigal on the road to Yediyur. The couple were later picked by the police. Their two sons are software engineers in Bengaluru while the daughter is married and lives in C.K. Achchukattu. Police are on the lookout for the kidnappers and are looking into whether they had help from any close family members.
