Kempe Gowda statue at Vidhana Soudha
The founder of Bengaluru, Nadaprabhu Kempe Gowda, will get due recognition with Chief Minister D.V. Sadananda Gowda on Friday announcing that a statue of Kempe Gowda astride a horse will be installed at the Vidhana Soudha premises. Speaking after distributing the Kempe Gowda awards, he said a suitable place will be identified soon for installation of the statue. He called upon the corporators to strive towards the development of Bengaluru. Politicians should be selfless in their service to society and citizens, he added.
He promised financial support for rejuvenation of Kempambudhi and Yediyur lakes. As many as 50 persons were conferred the awards. Though the BBMP had announced that the number of awardees will not be increased, five extra awards were given away on Friday. Jayamahal MLA Roshan Baig urged Mr Gowda to permit eateries to operate till 2 am in areas around hospitals. Only six MLAs were present for at the Kempegowda Day celebration.
