JD(S) MLAs ‘land’ in scam
Two JD(S) legislators , Srirangapatna MLA , A.B. Ramesh Bandisiddegowda and Melkote MLA, C.S. Puttaraju, who are already charged with receiving illegal site allotments in their names and in those of family members from the Bengaluru Development Authority (BDA) and Mandya Urban Development Authority, are now having to fight off accusations of receiving similar favours from the Mysore Urban Development Authority (MUDA) in 2007 under the Chief Minister’s discretionary quota.
Former Chief Minister, H.D. Kumaraswamy, had in 2007 passed three government orders using his discretionary powers directing the MUDA to allot three prime sites in Mysore to certain individuals allegedly in violation of the norms.
The whistleblower in the Mandya land scam, advocate T.S. Satyananda, claims to have documentary evidence to nail the legislators for the latest fraud. Mr. Bandisiddegowda’s mother, Vijaylakshmi was allotted a 50x80 site in the Anchesathagalli layout on July 28, 2007 and two months later, his wife Sumathi was allotted a 40x60 site in Vijaynagara 4th stage , second phase on September 12, he alleges. The next month, Mr. Puttaraju’s wife ,Nagamma got a 50x80 site in Sathagalli 2nd stage, he claims, also alleging that the beneficiaries had submitted affidavits claiming they did not own other residential sites.
Mr. Satyananda plans to combine the alleged illegal allotments made in Mysore with the Mandya case and file a fresh petition against the legislators. Interestingly, the three JD(S) MLAs are among the MLAs cutting across party lines against whom a PIL was filed by lawyer Vasuvedvan a year ago.
