Infy techie run over by car, dies
A 26-year-old software engineer was killed when an unidentified vehicle ran over him early on Thursday near Silk Board in BTM Layout.
Police have identified the deceased as Amritanshu Verma, from New Delhi who was working with Infosys. He was residing in a rented house in BTM Layout 9th Main.
Police said Verma was coming from Tavarekere Main Road towards BTM Layout on his Honda Activa when an overspeeding car heading towards Jaydeva hospital ran over him, killing him on the spot. Though he was wearing a helmet, he sustained severe injuries. Passersby, who saw Verma lying in a pool of blood, informed the police, who rushed to the spot.
The body was sent to Victoria Hospital and police await the arrival of Amritanshu’s parents from Delhi to conduct the autopsy.
Mico Layout police have registered a case of hit and run.
With low illumination in the area, police are finding it difficult to trace the killer driver. The CCTV camera footage does not clearly show the number plate and the make of the car. Police however are planning to send the footage to the FSL experts to retrieve clear data.
