Illegal assets case against Cong MLA
A private complaint has been filed against Gurmitkal MLA Baburao Chinchanasur alleging that he had amassed disproportionate assets (DA) and submitted false affidavits before the Election Commission and Lokayukta. The complaint was filed before Lokayukta court on Thursday and was adjourned for a day.
Complainant Shanthappa, a native of Khanally village in Yadgir district, is a practicing advocate in Yadgir and Gulbarga. He alleged that though Mr Chinchanasur had declared his property to be worth Rs 6.92 crore, the total assets, in fact, were worth more than Rs 14.52 crore, including Rs 7.60 crore worth assets which were not disclosed in the returns.
The complainant stated that the MLA has not disclosed his bank details and also that of his wife's. He however disclosed a factory's bank account numbers without providing the details of the statement. The complainant stated that the MLA declared that he owned Shakti Dal Mill, Amar Winery, Sai Chemicals, Shakti Oil Industry, all in Humnabad, but gave no further details on the value. The complainant also alleged that the MLA claimed and filed false declaration stating that many properties were purchased much before he was elected as MLA. The complainant submitted a copy of the letter sent by the MLA in response to the notice issued by the office of the Lokayukta. The four-time MLA was first elected in 1989 from Chittapur constituency and was also minister of state for Small Savings, Insurance and Muzrai between 1999 and 2004.
