I will fight scam case legally: Sreeramulu
A day ahead of his interrogation by officers of Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB), Andhra Pradesh, in connection with the "cash-for-bail" case, former minister and president of BSR Congress party, B Sreeramulu, said he would he would cooperate with officials concerned in Hyderabad, but fight the case legally.
Speaking to media persons after offering prayers at Idgah maidan here,Mr Sreeramulu said, “Yes, I have received a notice from the ACB and will answer queries posed by the sleuths. I will fight the case legally.” Mr Sreeramulu was served a notice by sleuths of the ACB at under Section 160 of the criminal procedure code, on August 17. He was asked to appear before them in Hyderabad on August 21 when his statement would be recorded in connection with the case.
The former minister's nephew and Kampli legislator T H Suresh Babu and Bellary city legislator Gali Somashekar Reddy have been arrested along with three judges, a retired judge, a real-estate entrepreneur and a rowdy in connection with the case. According to sources in ACB, Mr Sreeramulu was not charged in the 40-page preliminary chargesheet. Perhaps, the sleuths have uncovered evidence of his involvement during interrogation of some of the accused and while examining the local bank accounts on August 16. The sources pointed out that Mr Somashekhar Reddy was tight-lipped and did not disclose any information during his interrogation in Hyderabad.
Mr Pattabhirama Rao granted bail to former minister Gali Janardhan Reddy in May, but rejected the bail plea of suspended IAS officer Mrs Y Srilakshmi in the same case, on the same day. Amid allegations of bribery, the Andhra Pradesh High Court suspended Mr Rao on May 31, and handed over the case to ACB. The ACB filed a chargesheet, and arrested three serving judges including Mr Rao and eight others in connection with the case.
