I’m fit enough to fight for people: Gowda
Allying fears about his health condition, former prime minister H.D. Deve Gowda on Sunday asserted that he was fit enough to fight for people and secure them justice though he was falling ill occasionally.
Speaking to reporters after inaugurating a generic drug store in Hassan, Mr Gowda said, "It is true that my health sometimes fails but by God's grace, I recover so that I can lead the people's agitation. I will not keep quiet and will continue my struggle to get justice for the common man and farmers in the state."
Mr Gowda said he had held a series of meetings with various department officials to know the losses incurred by farmers due to drought as well as floods. "I have gathered enough material to put forth my views about the drought and flood, in the Parliament session. I am pained to note that even though the state government had all the resources at its command, it appears to have failed in implementing its own schemes," he charged.
He added that he had never indulged in politicking when a government wanted to take up developmental works but would surely intervene whenever a government's policy goes against the common man's interest. "I have suggested to medical education minister S.A. Ramdas to take note of the delay in the construction of government medical colleges in the state. The minister should think of providing better infrastructure at these colleges," he said.
