I don’t know these men: Behra’s wife
The police on Tuesday claimed to have solved the murder of city jeweller Nitesh Behra with the arrest of five accused. “But it is fishy. The police say they were my husband’s close friends, but it is the first time I have seen them,” said Nitesh’s wife Uma, when shown the press statement and photographs provided by the police. “If they were Nitesh’s friends, I would definitely have recognized them.”
Nitesh was kidnapped near his shop on Avenue road on March 27 and his body was found near Chikballapur the next day. Uma said, “Either the accused are faking their confession, or the cops have not got their facts right. I went to the Halasur Gate police station just after midnight on the day of kidnapping. But they told me to file my complaint with the Ashoknagar police. If Halasur Gate police had started the hunt immediately, the accused would not have escaped with my husband.”
“My brother was tortured to death. They burnt his body and stabbed him. Once the police arrest all the accused, I will move the High Court requesting it not to grant them bail. They must hang. We will go to the Supreme Court to get death for my brother’s killers,” said Asish Kumar Behra, Nitesh’s brother.
