Fresh trouble for Dharam, Gowda kin
Fresh trouble is brewing for former chief minister N. Dharam Singh and a few members of former Prime Minister H.D. Deve Gowda’s family, including H.D. Revanna and Kavitha, wife of H.D. Balakrishne Gowda, along with others with a private complaint being filed before the Lokayukta court on Saturday.
The complainant Ravi has alleged that during the Janata Dal (S)-Congress coalition government, the then government, headed by Mr Dharam Singh illegally denotified 10.11 acres of land in Uttarahalli, Bengaluru, in 2006. Mr Ravi has named Mr Dharam Singh as prime accused, followed by Mr H.D. Revanna as second accused, Mrs Kavitha as third accused, and 11 others who are alleged to be original land owners of the denotified land.
According to the complaint, the Bangalore Development Authority (BDA) had notified the land in 1996 and a final notification was issued for formation of Banashankari 6th Stage Layout. However, it is alleged that during the tenure of the Dharam Singh government, the land in question was denotified after the original owners sought for denotification.
This was allegedly done on the recommendation of the then PWD minister H.D. Revanna. The complaint also said that once the land was denotified in 2006, it was purchased in the name of Mrs Kavitha, who, in turn, sold a part of the land (2.11 acres) to a private realty company for pecuniary gain. Lokayukta court judge N.K. Sudhindra Rao has posted the case to April 16 for orders on admission of the petition.
