Fight against graft won’t end with Lokpal Bill: Hegde
On the second day of the indefinite fast and protest called by Anna Hazare and India Against Corruption, Justice Santosh Hegde, spearheading the protest in Bengaluru, said the fight against corruption will not end with the introduction of the Lokpal Bill—one of the main demands—but will continue “as we also have the task of bringing in the much needed police reforms, electoral reforms and judicial reforms.”
Most of the participants in the protest seem to be students, which raises the question whether other citizens are not that interested in the anti-graft movement. “Before starting the campaign we had met several unions, companies and others about participating in the campaign. However, we also need to understand that working professionals have their offices to go to and that is a constraint. But we are sure that in the coming days more people will participate,” said the former Lokayukta.
