Fiancee, lover held for techie's murder
The Bannerghatta police claim to have solved the murder of 24-year-old former Accenture staffer N.Nitish with the arrest of his fiancée and her boyfriend.
The arrested are P.Sowmya Saloni (22), a resident of Peenya, and her boyfriend Parshwanath Malaghatti of Belgaum.Sowmya, the daughter of Prakash Saloni, a reputed industrialist in Peenya, is said to have befriended Nitish two years ago through Facebook. The two decided to get married and had got consent from their parents.
The Bannerghatta police said that Sowmya, despite her engagement to Nitish, allegedly fell in love with Parshwanath and wanted to marry him and hatched a plot to kill Nitish. She got him to consume a soft drink laced with chemicals near Shilendradoddi in Bannerghatta and repeatedly stabbed him.
The accused then tried to destroy the evidence by burning the body.
The identity of Nitish was ascertained based on the ownership details of an abandoned two-wheeler near the crime scene. “We were able to solve the case based on the mobile phone details of the deceased.
Sowmya was arrested from her house in Peenya and Parshwanath from Belgaum“, police added.
A senior police officer said Sowmya was upset with Nitish being too friendly with some girls.
