DVS camp to fight for a key post for ousted former CM
The Sadananda Gowda camp is in no mood to call it quits till their leader is rewarded with a suitable post to make up for his sacrifice of quitting as CM to make way for Jagadish Shettar.
At a dinner meet held at Mr Gowda’s residence Thursday night, which was attended by nearly 25 legislators, the group decided to keep the fight going for the ex-CM, who has been reduced to a MLC with the central leadership maintaining a studious silence on pleas to make him party state president.
Municipal administration minister Balachandra Jarkiholi, a staunch Gowda loyalist, and his group were planning to put pressure on the leadership by boycotting the discussion and voting on the Finance bill.
They were also planning to raise the issue of portfolio reallocation which has left quite a few ministers disappointed, after the budget session. “We have dropped both plans,” sources in the group said.
Instead, the camp is planning to focus only on getting a suitable post for Mr Gowda.
According to sources, launching another battle for plum portfolios now being handled by Yeddyurappa loyalists, is sure to raise the heckles of the party top brass.
“We will focus only on securing an appropriate post for Mr Gowda and if he gets one, we are sure to benefit in the long run,”the sources said.
