DVS bears brunt of BSY barbs
Those who had expected the CEC recommendation for a CBI probe against former Chief Minister B.S. Yeddyurappa to dampen his attacks on Chief Minister D.V. Sadananda Gowda and his coterie, have been proved completely wrong.
Sources said the sparks flew at Saturday’s meeting of the BJP’s all powerful core committe with Mr Gowda bearing the brunt of BSY’s barbs. The agenda of the meeting was to restore peace between the CM and his predecessor who have been at loggerheads for the past several months. Senior RSS functionaries have been advising the warring leaders to work together in the interests of the party.
But peace was the last thing on the Lingayat strongman’s mind as he went hammer and tongs at the government for its poor handling of the drought situation. He also complained that he and his supporters were being ignored by the CM. “Without informing me or senior minister Jagadish Shettar, you (CM) and the party president have taken several important decisions. What is the point in conducting a core committee meeting? Why don’t you take decisions on your own”, he reportedly thundered.
Referring to the drought situation, the former CM took Mr Gowda and his ministers to task for stopping welfare programmes like Sandhya Suraksha and Bhagyalaxmi. Sources said the CM remained tightlipped through the meeting. Other committee members like party president K.S. Eshwarappa and RSS representatives Sathish and Santhosh had a friendly discussion with BSY.
