Dealers’ strike to hit LPG, fuel supplies
The All India LPG Distributors’ Federation, Karnataka chapter, has decided to stop distribution of LPG cylinders from October 1, demanding more commission per cylinder. Speaking to reporters here on Saturday, Federation state president Mr Radhakrishna said, “Presently, we are getting \ Rs25.83 as commission per cylinder. But we want at least Rs38. As the central government is not fulfilling our demand, we have decided to hold this protest”.
“The dual pricing system introduced by the central government has resulted in a five-price mechanism. So, distributors will now be required to maintain records for five categories of pricing and stock in godowns. This will lead to many complexities. The need of the hour is to educate customers about this new pricing system. But neither the Centre nor oil companies have initiated any such programme. Adding to the woes, distributors’ commission has not been revised for the last three years. We want the government to come out with a clear policy on all these issues”, he said.
Meanwhile, petrol pumps across the country may go dry on October 2 following the decision of bunk owners not to buy petrol on October 1 and 2 demanding implementation of the Apurva Chandra committee report and a hike in dealers’ commission.
