The curious case of Richard Loitam
Richard Loitam’s family is unhappy with the way the case is progressing. His uncle, Mr Bobby Loitam, who is deputy superintendent of police in Manipur, told Deccan Chronicle: “We suspect that the college authorities tried to wipe away the evidences. The hostel management, instead of first informing the police, had taken the body to the hospital. After the police got to know that Richard’s death was mysterious, they did not immediately make sure that his room was locked.”
According to Dr Rajesh Loitam, the father, Richard’s room mate Nikhil, was allowed to leave the hostel following Richard’s mysterious death, saying he was going on a holiday to Hong Kong. “When a boy is murdered under mysterious circumstances, each and every person in the hostel is vital evidence to the police. How did the hostel management let the boy leave” queries Dr Rajesh. He said that there is no hospital in the hostel premises, so how could the hostel management say that they have taken the opinion of the college doctor?
Is the doctor who was called in, Dr Ajith, a part time doctor for the hostel?
Dr Rajesh also expressed his unhappiness about the way the police are responding.
Dr Rajesh said, “Chemical analysis can be completed in two days. Why is there a delay in bringing out the facts?”
