Corporator worth Rs 14 cr raided
The Lokayukta police raided the house of Azadnagar ward corporator Gowramma on Friday and found properties, jewellery and vehicles worth over Rs 14 crore in her possession.
The officials raided a house in Chamarajpet, where she stays, and also three other houses. A police official said that the corporator owned three sites in Chamarajpet valued at Rs 2.21 crore, a building each in Nanjamba Agrahara, Ramachandra Agrahara and Nekarara Colony, valued at Rs 7.76 crore.
The officials also found 3.5 kg of gold and 21 kg of silver jewellery, and three cars. Searches and scrutiny of some more assets were still on.
“A disproportionate assets case had been filed against the corporator. The matter was referred to the police from the Lokayukta section.
The complaint detailed assets and other valuables allegedly amassed by the corporator. The teams also searched the houses of her relatives, and recovered property documents,’’ the official said.
The Lokayukta police seized documents related to 16 properties in Bengaluru Rural district and Mysore. She owns 10 acres in the name of her relative, Yamayya, in Kumbalgodu and Gollahahllli villages.
The officials have seized a large number of documents, which are yet to be verified. The Lokayukta police have registered a case under Sections 13 (1) (e) read with 13 (2) of Prevention of Corruption Act against Ms Gowramma.
