Cops rescue kidnapped man
A real estate agent, who was allegedly kidnapped by his rivals, was rescued by the KR Puram police within 24 hours of his wife filing a complaint.
Mallesh Gowda (45), a resident of Devasandra, was kidnapped around 10.30 am by a gang of seven. Towards evening, his wife Bhagyalaxmi received a call with the gang demanding Rs 10 lakh ransom. They threatened to bump off Gowda if the money is not reached to Puttaparthi in Andhra Pradesh.
She approached the K.R. puram police late on Friday night. Following their instruction, she told the kidnappers that she would get the cash.
Tracking the mobile number of the gang and their location, the police arrested five of the seven gang members, while two – Chandra, and Gopi – escaped.
The arrested have been identified as Ananda (36), Gopal Reddy (44), Prabhakar (38), Jagan Mohan (31) and Govinda (42).
Gopal Reddy told the police that he had hatched the kidnap plot as Mallesh Gowda, who had taken money for some construction work, had not completed it and was refusing to return the remaining amount.
