City soaks under sudden showers
Many parts of city received a brief, sudden downpour on Friday afternoon. The rain started post noon in parts of Bengaluru North, East and South and by 2.30 pm, the city had received 6 mm of rainfall. By 8.30 pm, the city registered 6.4 mm rainfall while HAL airport reported 11.9 mm rainfall.
Traffic snarls were reported at Bannerghatta Road-Hosur Road junction while water-logging was reported near Adugodi. Met Department director B. Puttanna said the city is receiving rainfall under the influence of the weather system in the Bay of Bengal.
“The weather system is moving North-West due to which we are receiving rain in Bengaluru. But the rain was not widespread on Friday over Bengaluru. Light drizzle was recorded in some areas. The clouds are expected to continue to hover for a few more days. However, we are still short of 20 mm of rainfall against the normal quota for July,” Mr Puttanna said.
