Chase by traffic police killed 55-yr-old motorist?
Yet another life was lost when traffic police allegedly jumped at a motorbike rider for riding without a helmet on Magadi Road on Sunday. Balakrishnan, a 55-year old motorbike rider and a resident of Magadi Road, was heading to office around 11.30 am when he was allegedly flagged down by the traffic cops for violating the traffic rule. The bike rider crashed into a BMTC bus, which was overtaking him from the left. He suffered serious head injuries and died at a private hospital nearby. The police said Balakrishnan sustained head injuries as he was riding without a helmet, but rubbished claims that he was scared by the presence of traffic cops.
The Magadi traffic police station in-charge said, “There was no traffic police present at the site where the accident occurred. These are mischievous speculations. He died because of BMTC’s rash driving and riding without a helmet.”
