‘CEC report prepared under pressure’
Charging that the Supreme Court-appointed Central Empowered Committee (CEC) had indicted former chief minister B.S. Yeddyurappa as part of a political conspiracy, state BJP president K.S. Eshwarappa said on Saturday the state government would refurbish its image by toning up the administration through a reshuffle of portfolios.
Briefing media persons after a meeting with party senior leaders and ministers here, Mr Eshwarappa said, “At this juncture, we cannot think of expanding the cabinet, so we have come to the conclusion that we can at least ease pressure on Chief Minister D V Sadananda Gowda who is handling 24 portfolios (through a reshuffle).” He said the state unit would regain its glory by toning up the state administration. "Even our tallest leader, Mr Yeddyruappa, is in trouble not because he has committed any crime but is a victim of political vendetta. I strongly believe that the Supreme Court-appointed Central Empowered Committee has become a victim of political pressure. Therefore, the CEC has submitted a one-sided report which is not only biased but also politically motivated," he added.
Mr Eshwarappa reiterated that Mr Yeddyurappa would come despite an adverse report submitted by the CEC. "It is purely a political conspiracy. I am sure that Mr Yeddyurappa will succeed in exposing those behind this conspiracy," he added. Answering a volley of questions, Mr Eshwarappa affirmed that today’s meeting with senior leaders and ministers was only to chalk out strategies to mitigate scarcity conditions in Karnataka.
