Buela mentally unsound, Isro intrusion not deliberate: Cops
The Jeevan Bima Nagar police have reportedly concluded that ISRO intruder, Buela M. Sam, was indeed mentally unstable and her act was not a “deliberate attempt” to gain access to any sensitive information at the Isro Satellite Centre.
The police found that Ms Buela has been suffering from a mental illness for six years. Her condition aggravated as she stopped taking her medication from September 11, the day her father Dr Samuel, a psychiatrist, passed away. On Friday, the police produced her before the 10th additional chief metropolitan magistrate’s court.
The court asked her if the police ill-treated her, and she replied in the negative. When the police did not seek additional custody, Buela’s counsel moved a bail application.
The court posted the case for hearing to Saturday, directing the police to file objections. The court later remanded her to judicial custody till October 12.
Sources said Buela always wanted to visit an ISRO centre, situated behind her house in Ahmedabad. She has mentioned her Ahmedabad address in the ID card.
The police team, which visited Kerala and Ahmedabad, is now corroborating statements given by Ms Buela and relatives.
