‘BSY, supporters in our poll team’
Denying charges that former chief minister B.S. Yeddyurappa and his supporters were kept out of committees constituted ahead of next month's polls to the Legislative Council, Chief Minister D. V. Sadananda Gowda on Tuesday said the ruling party, in fact, ensured that every important leader was included in these panels.
In an exclusive interview to Deccan Chronicle, the Chief Minister said “We have taken everybody as part of the selection process and all are with us. Even those MLAs (identified as supporters of Mr Yeddyurappa) are in selection committees. For example, Mr Basavaraj Bommai is in my team. Mr Umesh Katti is in another committee and so on. We have not left out anybody,” he added.
The Chief Minister, who arrived in Mangalore to participate in the Youth Awareness Convention organized by Yuva Morcha of BJP, said the names of candidates for next month's elections would be finalised by the end of the month. The party was hopeful of “good results,” Mr Gowda added. Asked about 'Janata Darshan' being held at Mr Yeddyurappa's new office, theChief Minister merely said, “It is left to him.” Speaking to media persons later, Mr Sadananda Gowda said draft youth policy was ready and would be placed in public forums for discussions over ten to 15 days. “People from all sections of society can bring to our notice if there is any scope for modification,” he added.
