BSY, Somanna face yet another probe
The Lokayukta special court has ordered investigation against Housing minister V. Somanna, former Chief Minister B.S. Yeddyurappa and others in the alleged illegal denotification of land in Nagadevanahalli. The complainant Yogendra H., an advocate, had stated that Mr Yeddyurappa, as chief minister, denotified 30 guntas of land which was later bought by Mr Somanna’s son Naveen, also an accused in the complaint.
The complainant listed Mr Somanna’s wife Shylaja and his son B.S. Naveen as accused in the case of denotification of 30 guntas of land at Nagadevanahalli in Kengeri hobli. The land is used as a playground by VSS Educational Trust, owned by Mr Somanna’s family. The complainant stated that the land belonged to one Deve Gowda and his sons and he had created a partition deed after his death.
The land in Survey No. 77 was acquired for the creation of Jnanabharathi Layout. The award was also released, but not received by the owner. Though the share of property had come to Mr Deve Gowda’s son Ramaiah, his mother Lingamma filed an application before the then Chief Minister Mr Yeddyurappa requesting to denotify the land in 2010.
In spite of objections by the BDA, Mr Yeddyurappa denotified the land on ‘humanitarian grounds’ on August 8, 2010. On October 11, 2010, the land was sold to Mr B.S. Naveen. The Lokayukta court ordered Lokayukta police to investigate the case and file the report by August 2.
