BSY comeback: BJP faces hard options
Former Chief Minister B.S. Yeddyurappa and his supporters seem to have gained an upper hand in their efforts to reclaim the chief minister’s post from Sadananda Gowda, after the recent visit of
BJP national general secretary, Karnataka in-charge, Dharmendra Pradhan. The party central leadership is now left with only two options, either to let Mr Gowda expand his cabinet, or to bring a change in the leadership with the assembly elections just a year away, BJP sources said.
The central leaders have come to stark realisation, yet again with the recent humiliating defeat in the Udupi-Chikmagalur Lok Sabha by-election, that they cannot do without the campaigning and crowd-pulling abilities of Mr Yeddyurappa, who chose to skip the crucial poll. The party central leadership is trying to pacify both groups, saying that their interests would be taken care of.
