BSY to Ananth: You can party now
Old rivalries are back in the state BJP with former chief minister B.S. Yeddyurappa training his guns on his bete noire and party national general secretary Ananth Kumar and blaming him for the ‘plot’ to ensure he was not made BJP state president.
Speaking to reporters, Mr Yeddyurappa demanded sarcastically that the central leadership should make Ananth Kumar party state president instead of considering his nominee, Prahlad Joshi for the post.
“Mr Kumar had made several attempts to become party president and CM. Now the decks have been cleared for him to become party president. ” Mr Yeddyurappa remarked.
“I will not come in the way of Ananth Kumar becoming party chief. I am aware that I will not become BJP chief or CM in future. Mr Kumar should use this opportunity to attain his dream”, the former CM said cynically. “If Ananth Kumar is made party chief, it will also help clear the confusion in the party on the president’s post”, he added.
The Lingayat strongman blamed Ananth Kumar for the chaos in the party. He also came down heavily on party state president K.S. Eshwarappa saying, “Our president has been speaking about the issue of B forms in the next elections, I want to clarify that neither I nor my followers will not stand in the queue before you for B forms. You are free to distribute the forms as you like”.
“Eshwarappa keeps saying that Yeddyurappa went to jail and Janardhan Reddy (mining baron) is still in jail. His statements are utterly irresponsible. I want to tell him that he will get a befittng reply in due course”, BSY said in a warning to his Shimoga counterpart.
Asked if he had decided to float a new party, Yeddyurappa said, "you can make your own guess".
"Ananth Kumar succeeded in carrying out a malicious campaign against me and convinced leaders like L.K. Advani and Arun Jaitley to deny me my due," he charged.
He said he has asked his loyalists to call off their Delhi visit to seek the president post for him as such an exercise would amount to "insulting" him. "Even if Gadkari offered me the post, I will not accept it", he added.
The former CM requested his followers to convey to him their opinion about the decision he should take on his future. “Please write to me to my office at Malleshwaram”, he said.
He announced he will resume his state tour from the October first week.
