BMTC bus mows down 3
A BMTC bus mowed down three people on a motorbike at Shettihalli Cross near Jalahalli on Sunday afternoon. Following the incident, an angry mob attacked the bus and blocked traffic for several hours. Police identified that deceased as Vinod Raj (20), his younger brother Anthony Raj (16) and D'Souza (17). Vinod was a car driver employed with a private company while the other two were students. All three were residents of Siddarthnagar.
Around 2.30 pm, the speeding BMTC bus that was on its way to Majestic from Jalahalli, knocked down the motorbike driven by Vinod and all the three came under the wheels of the bus and were crushed to death. The bus driver, identified as Dinesh, however, fled the scene. An angry crowd gathered at the scene and started pelting stones at the bus throwing traffic out of gear. Since the bus was still in the middle of the road, the Yeshwantpur traffic police took almost two hours to clear the jam. The bus (KA -01 FA-1837) has been seized and police have registered a case and are on the lookout for the driver.
