BJP: Onus on Cong ministers
Extending its support to the state’s decision to stop release of Cauvery water to Tamil Nadu, the state unit of BJP has decided to mount pressure on four Union ministers from Karnataka to take up the vexed dispute with the PM. BJP legislator Mr Ashwathnarayan said the responsibility of securing justice to Karnataka rested with these ministers.
They should exert pressure on the PM and ensure that he convenes a meeting of CRA forthwith to review its previous decision on release of 9,000 cusecs of water to Tamil Nadu. In case they fail to do so, the state unit would launch an agitation against them, he added. Welcoming the state’s decision to stop water from flowing into Tamil Nadu from tonight, Mr Ashwathnarayan said Tamil Nadu received copious rain over the last three days with at least 30,000 cusecs of water flowing into Mettur dam.
