BJP government completes four years, but no celebrations
There will be no celebrations to mark the completion of four years in office by the BJP government.
Reason: the model code of conduct for the Legislative Council polls.
Mr Sadananda Gowda, who addressed a press conference on Thursday, flanked by law minister Suresh Kumar and labour minister, B.N. Bachhe Gowda, has little reason to celebrate with the leadership crisis severely impacting governance and none of the ministers loyal to former CM B.S. Yeddyurappa co-operating with him, said sources. At the press meet, he announced that he would confine himself to questions on development but finally had to answer several tricky ones on cabinet expansion, the Lokayukta appointment, the change of leadership and his proposed visit to Delhi which was later cancelled. There is no festive mood in the government or among ministers? “Some people celebrate at the drop of a hat. I do not. I want to work and I want to see people benefit before I celebrate. How can you achieve such development without the co-operation of ministers? All the ministers are attending to their department works and are periodically reviewing programmes.”
On the Lokayukta appointment
While giving its ruling on the appointment of the Upalokayukta, the high court had made some observations. We moved the Supreme Court seeking clarifications. We will approach the court again for an early hearing
Change of leadership
Ever since I became the Chief Minister, this guessing game is on (smiles)
Cabinet expansion
Soon after the presidential election, I will consult central leaders and obtain nod for expanding the cabinet.
